Privacy and cookie policy
What we collect, why, and the choices you have. Written in plain English.
Who we are
This website is run by the Hidara project team as part of a university marketing project (module MARK11020). Hidara is a brand concept and not a registered company. For any privacy question, use the contact form.
Enquiries and pre-order requests
When you send an enquiry, we collect your name, email address, the product you ask about, who it is for and your preferred colour (if you choose them) and your message. When you send a pre-order request, we collect your name, email address, optional postcode and message, and the items in your bag.
We also record the page you sent it from and any campaign tags in that page's link (for example "utm_source=instagram"), so we know which of our posts and links are useful.
- Why: to reply to your enquiry or pre-order request.
- Legal basis: your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time using the contact form.
- Who processes it: forms are delivered by Formspree, which passes your message to our inbox. Formspree is based in the United States and handles data under its own privacy policy.
- How long we keep it: 12 months after our last reply, then we delete it.
- Marketing: we do not add you to any mailing list from an enquiry or pre-order request.
The "Ask Hidara" chat
The chat assistant runs entirely in your browser and answers from the information on this website. What you type is not sent to us or stored. If cookies are accepted, Google Analytics records only the topic of a question (for example "delivery"), never the words you type.
Your bag
The items you add to your bag are saved in your own browser (local storage, under the name hidara_bag) so they are still there when you come back. They are not sent to us unless you send a pre-order request. You can clear the bag by removing the items.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use this site, such as which pages are viewed and which buttons are clicked. This helps us improve it.
Google Analytics only runs if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you click "Decline", or make no choice, it does not load and no analytics cookies are set.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets these cookies:
- _ga: tells visitors apart. Lasts up to 2 years.
- _ga_ followed by our property ID: keeps track of your visit. Lasts up to 2 years.
Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on page, the site that sent you here, your device and browser type, and your rough location (country or city). We do not use it to identify you personally. You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
We also save your cookie choice in your browser's local storage (under the name hidara_cookie_consent) so we do not ask you on every page.
Changing your mind: use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page. .
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. Use the contact form and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

We will update this page if anything changes. Last updated: 21 October 2026.
